For some reason the concept of a synergistic approach hit me hard during my workout today. During the past six months I have witnessed changes in my physique that greatly exceed any other transformation that I’ve gone through. The reason for this amazing transformation is not just because I set a BIG goal to achieve by a specific date. It’s not just because I surround myself with like-minded supportive people who are striving for greatness. It’s not just because I’ve been following a killer workout program designed to gain muscle and lose fat. It’s not just because I’m following a killer diet plan that is designed to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. It’s not just because I’ve been walking for 30-45 minutes daily. It’s not just because I’m getting a great sleep every night…

…The reason for the amazing results that I’ve been experiencing is because I have been incorporating all of the above into my daily life. Everything is working in synergy.

If I had just focused on my diet, I wouldn’t look the way that I do today. If I had just followed my workout program, I wouldn’t look the way that I do today. If I had just focused on walking, I wouldn’t look the way that I do today. When you get everything working in synergy your results will increase exponentially. It’s like the saying goes, “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” In other words, 1+1+1 does not always equal 3.

I’m sure this is nothing new to you. It’s not ground breaking info, yet very few people are committed to getting their mind, workouts, diet, cardio, and lifestyle working in synergy.

How about you? Do you have everything working in synergy?

The thing that really struck me today during my workout was more than just the fact that I had all the pieces of the puzzle together. The thing that struck me was that everything that I have been doing is in total alignment with my goals and my mindset. This is the ultimate synergy! It’s total and complete lifestyle.

What I mean by this is that although you may be working out, eating well, doing cardio, and getting a great sleep… the type of workout, type of diet, or type of cardio may not be in complete alignment with your goals or current lifestyle.

You and I may both have a goal to burn fat, but that doesn’t mean that we should be following the same workout, diet, or cardio routine. You need to fine tune your goals beyond just fat loss. There are many different ways to train when your goal is fat loss. Other than releasing a specific amount of fat, it’s important to know the “Look” that you desire to achieve. Other goals to consider could be strength, flexibility, or functionality just to name a few. There’s thousands of fat loss workout programs available, yet each of them can produce a different outcome beyond just burning off ___ pounds of fat.

What do you want to get out of your workout program? What do you want to get out of your nutrition plan? What do you want to get out of the cardio that you perform? What do you want to get out of LIFE? After you answer those questions, take a moment to reflect on whether or not all the actions that you are performing are in alignment with the overall outcome that you desire.

I’m sure that you’ve noticed a shift in my mindset during the past six months. I’ve become pretty darn intense and passionate. My personal focus and love has shifted toward body sculpting… or dare I say bodybuilding. They are the same thing, it’s just that body sculpting has a nice ring to it and it helps me visualize my training as an art form. (for all the non-bodybuilders out there, bear with me for a moment, because this will come right back to you).

When my mindset shifted, so did my goals. I began thinking bigger. I began thinking about getting totally shredded. I began to think about gaining muscle while getting shredded. I began to get super excited about how my physique will look in five to ten years from now.

When this shift in mindset occurred, my training had to shift as well. I began to workout like a bodybuilder/body sculptor. I began to eat like a bodybuilder/body sculptor. I began to surround myself with friends who are bodybuilders/body sculptors. I began to gravitate toward online communities where the members had goals of gaining muscle and losing fat. I began to pay more attention to the quality of sleep that I was getting.

Everything began to work in synergy. My workouts, diet, sleep, friends, and cardio were all in-line with my goals and mindset… and that’s the key.

Ever notice how many yoga practitioners are also vegetarians or raw foodists? A vegetarian or raw food diet, from what I can see, appears to gel really well with the philosophies, values, goals, and mindset of yoga. It’s a synergistic approach.

When it comes to athletes, they train a certain way and eat a certain way. Every part of their lifestyle works together in synergy in order to allow them to perform at the top of their game.

The take home lesson that I hope is getting across to you, is the importance of knowing the exact goal that you desire to achieve, and making sure that your workouts, diet, and lifestyle are in alignment with your goal. When you have everything working together in synergy, I guarantee that fitness will become more fun, effortless, and rewarding.

There is no “BEST” workout, diet, or cardio plan that will work for everyone. I encourage you to “buck the trends” and go with your heart and passion. Follow the plan that is best in alignment with the body and lifestyle that you desire.

To achieving your limitless potential,

It’s regarding that infamous “Last 10-20 pounds” that you need to lose and have been wanting to lose for what may seem to be a lifetime.

Life has a way of constantly reminding you that you need to lose this last 10-20 pounds. Whether it’s catching a glimpse of yourself as you step out of the shower, bending over to tie your shoes, lounging around the pool or beach in your swimsuit, doing up the button on your jeans, a health scare from a close friend or family member who is overweight, or moments of self reflection where you think to yourself, “I deserve better!” But for some reason, despite all of these reminders, you have allowed other things in life to take priority over your intention to finally rid yourself of this excess fat once and for all.

Unique Emotional Impact Of The Last 10-20 Pounds

I am certain that this post will hit you on a different and unique level than the tens of thousands of people who read this blog each month. Although 10-20 pounds of excess fat will impact many of us in a very similar way internally (physically and hormonally), it’s going to impact us all on a slightly different level emotionally and psychologically. As my friend Shawn Phillips, creator of Full Strength, and author of Strength For Life and ABSolution, shares in this video conversation, some people are quite happy with who they are, even while carrying around excess fat.

Please take a moment to listen to this very important conversation between Shawn and I, regarding the impact of the last 10-20 pounds of excess fat…

Our conversation starts off with Shawn sharing his story of how Sylvester Stallone asked him to train Whoopie Goldberg to help her lose weight. It didn’t take long for Shawn and Whoopie to come to an agreement that she was, “Good with where I am.”

This is such an important example to bring up, because I sincerely believe that some people are very happy and content with who they are and where they are, even when they are carrying around excess fat. As much as I would love to see these individuals release some excess fat for health reasons, I respect their position and am happy for them.

Have You Been Rationalizing The Last 10-20 Pounds

I do however have a problem with people who say that they are content with carrying around 10-20 extra pounds of fat, yet whenever they are around a pool or beach they feel the need to cover themselves up to hide their excess fat, because they are embarrassed or uncomfortable with how they look.

As Shawn shares in this video, these people, “Live just below where they want to be. They rationalization their current state.”

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not living to my potential. I’m currently living below where I want to be. But I refuse to rationalize my current state. I demand more from myself and take action to bring me closer to living to my potential. In other words, although I may not be living at my true potential, I am closer to my potential than ever before!

How about you? Do you feel like you are living to your potential? Are you where you want to be in life… physically and emotionally? How is your excess fat impacting your life?

It’s Personal

As I share in the video, that last 10-20 pounds is going to impact us all on a different level emotionally. Sometimes it takes a person to actually release the last 10-20 pounds first, before they realize the impact that their excess fat was having on their life.

There was a time when I was 45 pounds fatter than I am today. I knew that my energy was EXTREMELY low compared to the days when I was lean and very active. My confidence was at an all time low and I was ashamed of my body, which is why I kept it covered up. This was a huge difference from the days when I proudly showed off my body on the beach. Although I recognized some of the impact that this excess 45 pounds was having on my life, it wasn’t until I released the first 35 pounds of that fat, that I realized just how much I had been robbing myself of the life that I deserved.

Mission: Help You Live To Your Fullest Potential

This realization is what sparked my mission and passion for doing everything in my power to help as many people as possible, sculpt the body that they deserve and live to their fullest potential.

Throughout this journey I took things to the next level and released another 10 pounds of excess fat while gaining some precious muscle mass. Although compared to the “Norm” I looked pretty good where I was at, I knew the impact that this extra 10 pounds was having on me emotionally. In my eyes, I was average… and settling for an average body and an average life just doesn’t sit too well with me.

I was uncomfortable with my lower belly fat, which was exaggerated every time that I sat down or bent over to tie my shoes. I knew that I still wasn’t as confident as I knew I could be. I knew that I deserved better. I knew that I wanted better. I also knew that I had what it took in order to take my physique to the next level and I just needed to apply myself in order to experience the body and life that I deserve.

As crazy as it may sound… how I feel today compared to how I felt just a few short months ago when I was 10 pounds fatter, is totally night and day. I feel like a new man! Frankly, I’m blown away at how much better I feel. I’m blown away at how releasing this 10 pounds has impacted my life. I’m even more blown away at how it has impacted my outlook on life. There’s also no doubt that the muscle and strength that I gained while releasing this 10 pounds of fat has had a great impact on making me feel like a REAL MAN as well. I feel like I’m closer to living to my potential than ever before.

But… I’m not done yet… and I probably never will be… and that excites the heck out of me.

I am incredibly happy with where I am at today. I love the way that I look. I love the way that I feel. I love life! Here’s a picture of a recent family vacation where I was more than proud to show off my body (although the angle of the natural light was not very flattering for my lower stomach). My zest for life is at an all time high…

Although I am happy with how I look and feel, I know that I am capable of even better… and I want better. I crave better. In terms of appearance, I can see the outline of my lower abs just below the surface. I want to see them pop out! Some people have no desire to see a complete six pack on their physique. I however have a strong desire to see myself with completely ripped abs. I also desire more muscle and strength.

My goal is not to be the leanest, most muscular, strongest man on the planet. My goal is to be the best me that I can be and to live life to the absolute fullest. I am absolutely certain that achieving my next goal of revealing my full six pack abs, will bring me one step closer to living to my potential. This goes beyond just the physical appearance. It’s how releasing this last bit of excess body fat and gaining some sexy lean muscle will impact everyone around me.

In the video I mention how the excess 45 pounds of fat impacted my wife and children as well as my business. As many of the Fat Loss Quickie blog subscribers have mentioned to me through email and in blog post comments, my passion has really been shining through in my writing during the past six months. My passion for helping you live the life that you deserve in the body that you deserve has skyrocketed to a new level, which I never realized was possible. I MUST see you succeed in your body transformation journey.

I am certain that as I continue on this journey of self-growth and self discovery, that you will see even more passion oozing from writing and videos.

As Shawn mentions in the video, there are subtle effects going on internally within my body as a result of even just this small amount of excess body fat. Sure my health is great and I’m looking really good, but I know that I can feel even better and perform even better by releasing this last bit of excess body fat. The difference may not be dramatic at this point, but there will be a difference.

The bottom line is that I continue to transform my body and improve my vitality for me. But I also feel that I owe it to my family, my friends, and you, to be the best that I can be. As Shawn states in the video, I owe it to you to, “Show up in a fit and vital state.”

Who do you owe it to show up in a fit and vital state? Your family, friends, employer? Can you see how on some level, your last 10-20 pounds is impacting them?

Avoid The Norm… Do Not Settle For Average!

It’s easy to compare yourself to the norm in today’s society and think to yourself, “I’m not doing too bad.” I illustrated this point in the video by sharing the story about my personal training clients who had a goal to release 10-20 pounds. Yet when they went on a cruise and noticed how much bigger people were, they thought to themselves, “Maybe we don’t need to lose as much fat as we think. Maybe we’re pretty good where we are at.”

Please do not compare yourself to the norm. Instead, reflect internally on the goals that you personally desire, the potential that you want to tap into, the life that you know you deserve!

Others may choose to settle, but you can choose to excel.

It’s my personal mission to bring out the absolute best in YOU! I want to awaken the passion within you to live to your fullest potential and live the life that you know you deserve. I want you to wake up every morning feeling strong and feeling proud of both your current achievements and the goals that you are about to achieve.

It’s time to say good-bye to average and hello extraordinary. Become the best you that you can be!

To achieving your limitless potential,

Scott Tousignant

PS I know that this can be a very sensitive topic and not something that you would typically want to share with others, but if you are comfortable with sharing how the last 10-20 pounds of excess fat is impacting your life, I sure would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

PPS If you are looking for a workout program that will transform your average body into a sculpted work of art, I highly recommend the Metabolic Masterpiece Body Sculpting Program

I’d love to know what you are aiming to achieve during the next three to six months so I can provide you with relevant advice to help you achieve those goals. I also want to make sure that the goals that you have set are challenging enough that when you achieve them, you will feel incredible joy. Achieving your goal should be life changing!

For some people, life changing may be releasing fifty pounds of unwanted fat from their body. For others it may be that last ten pounds of stubborn fat that has been hanging around for years.

You may not realize that releasing just five to ten pounds of fat can be absolutely life changing. Believe me, it can be just as life changing as releasing fifty pounds.

To illustrate this point, take a look at a comparison of what I look like today versus what I looked like 70 days ago…

This difference over the past 70 days is just over five pounds. Visually, that five pounds is a significant difference. But what you don’t see in these pictures is the difference that it has made psychologically and how these mindset changes have impacted my overall life.

The great news is that I didn’t have to do anything extreme, starve myself, or make outrageous sacrifices in order to experience these changes. Yes, it’s been a lot of hard work and dedication, but it’s the small, gradual changes over time that have produced these results and made this journey incredibly enjoyable!

Here’s where this topic begins to get interesting…

On Day 1 of this body sculpting journey, I had many people tell me that I looked really good where I was at. They told me that most guys would die to look the way that I did. I guess I could see where they were coming from. Compared to the average guy I did look pretty good.

But the thing is… I don’t want to be average. I don’t want to settle for mediocrity. I want to live to my potential and be the best that I can be. I DESERVE to live life to the fullest!

I could have easily allowed these people to persuade me into being average. I could have listened to their pleads to “Live a little”. But if I would have allowed that to happen, I wouldn’t be happy.

There were things that really bothered me 70 days ago. I wasn’t comfortable in a bathing suit. In fact, during that first week I was on vacation at a waterpark and did not like the way that I looked at all. I wasn’t confident. Actually, I was a bit embarrassed.

Before I get into more detail about how I felt and how those extra five pounds impacted my life, it’s important to note that everyone’s goals and standards are different. Obviously, being a fitness professional, I should look better than the average guy. But it goes way beyond maintaining a respectable image of a fitness professional. It’s got more to do with my values, beliefs, and the standards that I hold for myself.

You don’t need to achieve six pack abs in order to live to your potential and feel confident in your appearance and health. But, I believe that it’s very important that you ask yourself if you are “TRULY HAPPY” with the standards that you set for yourself.

As a Certified Fitness Consultant the most common goal that I heard from new clients was, “I want to get fit” …Well, what does “Fit” mean to you? For many of them, they wanted to feel comfortable in their cloths and lose some unwanted fat… But what exactly does “Some” mean? Is it five pounds of fat, ten pounds of fat, or twenty-five pounds of fat? The more important question is, “How do you want to look and feel when you achieve your goal?”

There was a common problem with many of these clients. They would achieve their goal, look better than the average woman or man, but they weren’t truly happy. I could see it on their faces as they shared their daily experiences. There was this battle going on in their mind.

On one side they could hear their friends saying, “Come on, live a little. Why are you eating that rabbit food. Just have a drink with us it won’t kill you.” Listening to this voice would make them think, “I don’t want to get extreme. I’ve progressed enough. I look pretty good. I’m happy with my accomplishments. I don’t want to look anorexic. I don’t want my face to sink in. I don’t want to become obsessed…”

When they listened to this voice and listened to their friends, they would request to just aim to maintain what they had. Yet at the same time they would cover themselves up when they were around a pool. The women didn’t want anyone to see the fat on their thighs. They were embarrassed about their butt. They weren’t confident at all. Yes they looked better than they did before and they looked better than their friends, but they weren’t entirely happy. They weren’t living life to the fullest. They were still hiding in a shell.

The guys weren’t quite as bad in public. A beer gut isn’t something that you typically console your buddies about and you never let on that it bothers you. But in the privacy of their home and in their mind, they did not like the way they looked at all. They really wanted a flatter stomach and even dreamed of having abs, but for some reason they thought that it was wrong to think that they should have a goal to get six pack abs. They thought it would be frowned upon. They could hear their friends criticize them for being extreme and taking it too far.

If your standards are to look fit, have a fairly flat tummy, and a moderately firm body and you are totally happy with those results, that’s exactly what you should aim for and be incredibly proud of your achievements. Take pride in showing your body off even if you don’t have a six pack. Soak up the confidence that you experience and allow it to impact all areas of your life.

But…

If you achieve your goal of a flat tummy and you still lack confidence, you’re still embarrassed to show off your body, you are still upset when you see a roll of fat hang over your pants when you bend over to tie your shoes, or you look in the mirror and wish that you looked better… I ask you to re-evaluate your goals and not settle for your current achievements. Celebrate them, but recognize that you deserve better, and go after it… get what you deserve!

Back to my inner thoughts about my physique 70 days ago…

It’s true, I definitely was not happy with the state of my body. I was disgusted when I tied my shoes and saw the fat. I wasn’t confident with my shirt off. I didn’t like what I saw looking back at me in the mirror when I stepped out of the shower.

What upset me the most was that I knew that I was capable of so much better. I knew that my body was not a reflection of my values, beliefs, and standards. I knew that I had the ability to sculpt something truly remarkable. I knew that I wasn’t living to my potential. I knew that I deserved so much more.

Today, when I look in the mirror I’m definitely happy. My confidence is through the roof. I find myself walking around the house with my shirt off, way more than I ever did. I’m proud of my achievements. I love the way I feel in my cloths. I feel sexy. I feel ALIVE! I feel passionate.

It’s night and day how I feel now compared to 70 days ago, which makes what I’m about to say come as a shock to some people…

I’m not the happiest that I could be with my body. I’m happy, but I could be happier. That’s why I’m continuing on with this journey. I really want to see my lower abs popping out. I desire more muscle. I’m aiming for great symmetry.

Again, this all has to do with my own personal standards, values, and beliefs. I may look at myself with a critical eye, but I certainly don’t beat myself up over it. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. I embrace and celebrate my ability to continue sculpting my body. I enjoy this journey more and more each day. I have become more fascinated with my body than ever before. I crave MORE! I crave the feeling of performing a workout to the greatest of my abilities. I crave the feeling of going through an entire day fueling my body with only healthy and natural foods. I crave the feeling of opening my mind to new possibilities. I crave this body sculpting lifestyle.

I’m like a curious child. Each day I become more curious. I can’t wait to take it to the next level. And here’s another kicker… when I achieve my current goal I will be very happy, but I won’t be my happiest.

…That may leave you thinking that I’m crazy and I’ll never be happy or satisfied. My response… happiness is not a moment.

…What I learned 16 years ago in Philosophy 101 is that Happiness is a journey. That has stuck with me ever since. It’s why I crave more. It’s why I get excited about the next step. That’s why it’s so important to find the joy in your body sculpting journey. Soak up the process. Take it all in. Be aware of the end goal, but celebrate every day, every workout, and every rep.

The thought of craving continuous improvement may be difficult to comprehend until you experience it. I’m at a stage right now that I never could have comprehended last year. I’ve never felt this level of passion and excitement. It builds up each and every day.

I attribute this shift in mindset to my choice of easing into this recent transformation. To enjoying the process. To celebrating the mini victories and making the choice to challenge myself a little more each week.

I also attribute this mindset shift to my level of focus and awareness that I have put toward my body… not just on the outside, but inside as well. This focus and awareness turned into an incredible fascination that is in full bloom right now. It’s pretty darn awesome!

This progression has led me to hold an even higher standard for myself, because I know that I am capable of so much more. With each passing day I am reinforced with the belief that I deserve to live the best life possible. I owe that to myself. I need to continue exploring my potential. I need to show myself and the world what I’m made of.

This post isn’t about judging what’s the ideal body weight or body fat percentage that people should aim for. It’s about being the happiest that you could be and living your life to the fullest. Six pack abs don’t make you happy. It’s knowing that you are making the most out of your abilities and creating the life that you deserve that makes you happy and will continue to make you even happier each day.

So now it’s your turn. I would love to hear what your goals are. Take a moment to share them in the comment box below. How do you think you will feel once you achieve this goal?

…Remember, we all have varying standards, so you do not necessarily need to have a goal of six pack abs.

How committed are you to achieving this goal? Are you finally sick and tired enough to take consistent action toward achieving your goal? What has caused you to settle for where you are at right now?

Asking questions is a powerful goal achieving tool. I recommend that you pull out a journal and write your answers to these questions down. Some of the answers may be a little too personal to share with us here, but please do not be afraid to share what you can with us. Like I said, I’m not here to judge, I’m just here to encourage.

I believe in you and I know that you totally ROCK!

To achieving your limitless potential,

It all sounds good, but just a day or two later you end up right back to your old bad habits. This has certainly happened to me. I went into some detail about this in the Transformation Fascination report about how I went through this same drill for six to seven months, reliving the same scenario, just like the movie ground hog day. My workouts were great and I was gaining some muscle, but my nutrition was far from up to par, which resulted in some fat gain.

But 4 weeks ago this all changed. Frankly, it changed in an instant. This has completely intrigued me and has sent me into deep thought and reflection as to how this instantaneous mental shift took place.

As I’ve been reflecting on this shift in mindset I was reminded about something that one of my mentors, Tom Beal mentioned in the Change Series motivational movie. You can listen to it as you watch this clip. He says it at the 4:30 mark…

Tom Beal Speaks About Embracing Change

Tom said, “Once they are ready for a change it happens in an instant.”

Wow! I recorded that video over three years ago, and now, as I sit back and watch it I get chills running down my spine.

These words are so very true, yet at the same time, it can be difficult to explain. There certainly are moments where we can get all fired up and we say, and to a degree, feel that we are ready to change, but for some reason the circumstances are just not right. It may not be the moment when you are meant to go through this change. Maybe it’s because you don’t yet have all the necessary tools to help you make the change, maybe your life is a little too unpredictable to go through this change, or maybe you just don’t want to experience this change bad enough in order to put in the necessary work that it will take to achieve your goal.

Although the CHANGE that I am currently experiencing with my body transformation did indeed happen in an instant, I do believe that there were specific events that helped lead me up to this moment.

It really did begin way back seven months ago when I said that I was finally ready to change. Although I wasn’t quite ready to make a complete change I did increase the intensity of my weight training sessions. I also began to add more strength training into my workouts, which I hadn’t done for years. The feelings that I experienced from increasing the weight and reducing the reps during some of my workouts was absolutely incredible. It brought back emotions that I experienced back in the day when I was really serious about weight training (not that I haven’t been serious about weight training. It’s just that I’ve taken that level of seriousness above and beyond where I’ve ever been.) I felt like a MAN! I was feeling stronger. I was feeling confident. This increase in strength motivated me to push myself a little harder… Step outside of my comfort zone… Test my limits.

As I progressed through my workouts I began to add muscle. Just seeing a little more muscle on my chest, shoulders, and legs motivated me to push even harder. My workouts were going incredibly well and I had ignited a flame within me that was firing brighter and hotter than ever before.

But I still couldn’t get myself to improve upon my nutrition, so I was still adding on a bit of fat.

All this while I was listening to audios from people who had gone through amazing body transformation. I was also becoming more aware of before and after photos or magazine covers with ‘ripped’ fitness models. In the moment I was very inspired to up my game, but still had a difficult time acting upon it.

Then I read Brad Pilon’s book Eat Stop Eat and my motivation received another boost. I began following Brad’s work more and more and really enjoyed his philosophies, which included getting more quality sleep and reducing your stress.

Then Brad began a website called Inflammation Theory, which offers free videos about the research that he is currently focused on. I became even more intrigued with my physique and began simplifying the process of shaping my body.

Then I watched the movie “Snatch”, starring Brad Pitt. Throughout the movie I was thinking, I want to get as ripped as Brad Pitt in this movie. Then I began thinking that he looked even better in the movie “Troy”. He had more muscle in that movie. So immediately I began looking for photos of Brad’s physique in the movie “Troy”.

Then the moment happened in an instant. I made the conscious choice to commit myself to documenting my transformation and sharing it all here on my blog and with my Fat Loss Quickie subscribers. I made my goals public and I committed myself to taking a daily picture of my physique so I could monitor the changes that were taking place.

At that moment there was no turning back. I said, “I’m READY!” This time, speaking those words felt different and it’s very difficult for me to explain. I just REALLY felt READY! I knew with 100% certainty that I was about to begin an amazing journey that would see me follow through and achieve my goals. I wanted it and I wanted it bad. I couldn’t get the vision out of my head. I couldn’t help but look at myself in the mirror and picture myself totally ripped with even more muscle. I couldn’t stop thinking about how great it was going to feel when I achieved this goal. And you know what? In these moments, it really felt like I had achieved my goal. I was that excited!

Unfortunately, I don’t think that you can bottle that kind of energy, motivation, or readiness. I don’t think that there is a blueprint or secret to feeling honestly READY in that moment. It’s all up to you and it’s all within you. When it does happen… and I know it will… It will be like a switch flipping on in your mind. All of a sudden it’s GAME ON!

I wish that I could flip that switch for you. I do my best to hold your hand and guide you to that moment of flipping the switch, but ultimately it’s only within your power. I hope that my words and actions provide you with a dose of inspiration to reach out, flip that switch, and make that choice in that very moment to achieve your very worthy and deserving goal no matter what obstacles and challenges you may face.

Transforming my body during the past 25 days has been hard work, yet at the same time it has felt effortless. I know what I need to do and I do it. I’m not struggling like I used to. I have a certain confidence about me that I’ve never felt before. Eating less has become easier and easier.

I’m certain that the conscious choice that I made to ease into this transformation, allowing for frequent treats, and taking a relaxed approach to nutrition, has contributed greatly to my ability to stick with it. Each week I’ve progressed with my nutrition. Still treating myself, but a little bit less than the previous week. I don’t feel deprived at all.

As I complete a successful week of transformation I feel the momentum nudging me forward and a little voice in my head saying, “I know that you can push just a little harder this week Scott.” Nothing drastic, just small simple changes.

I also believe that having beach season just around the corner has provided me with a little extra incentive. I began this journey right around the same time that I would typically begin transforming my body when I was in my early 20’s preparing to look my best on the beach during the Victory Day holiday weekend here in Canada.

More than anything, I am simply inspired by the improvements that I have been making to my physique. At the age of 35 I’m looking better than ever. That excites the heck out of me. Little comments that I hear from Angie such as, “Wow, your shoulders are looking wider”, encourage me to continue pushing forward.

Emails and blog comments that I have received from your fellow Fat Loss Quickie blog readers, have REALLY encouraged me to push forward and continue documenting my journey. It makes my day to know that my actions and words are inspiring my friends from all around the world, to make a positive change to their health and physique. That’s when I know that I’m on the right path… when my positive change sparks positive change in others.

In the wise words of Charlie Sheen, we’re “Winning” and we’re winning BIG together. I have never felt more fulfilled in my life and I owe a great deal of it to my loyal and valued readers who openly share their thoughts and feelings with me. Thank you!

I look forward to hearing about the moment when you flip (or flipped) the switch and decide that today is the day, “I’m Honestly READY!”

Life ROCKS and so do you!

To achieving your limitless potential,

Scott Tousignant

PS A very happy moment came over me a few months ago when I received a message from my mentor Tom Beal, who’s in the video above, and he told me about his recent body transformation and how it has impacted his life. It’s always incredibly cool to see your mentors continue to grow and improve themselves in a variety of ways. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to read Tom’s free report about his transformation. You can find it on his website at My Transformation Secrets.

PPS If you enjoyed today’s article it would make my day if you shared it with your friends and family who you feel could use a little dose of inspiration. Thank you.

It’s been 21 days of my Transformation Fascination journey and the results have been pretty awesome, especially considering all the junk I’ve eaten, having been away on vacation, and going out to a party and getting very tipsy off of wine. But, you be the judge of my results…

Well, do you see some progress there? Can you believe that I achieved those results without counting calories and eating all this junk…

Multiple glasses of wine (on one occasion), 1 light beer (on two occasions), a few mixed drinks while on vacation (Rye and Pepsi Max), pizza (on two occasions), Spinach and Artichoke snacks, chocolate covered almonds, Girl Guide mint cookies, Veggie Stix (chip like snack), Peanut Butter Oat Bars, French toast, cheesy home fries, Cherry Cheese Cake, ice cream, Melba Rounds, coffee with half hot chocolate, homemade peanut butter cookies, homemade vanilla pudding, honey roasted peanuts, dill pickle chips, Breyer’s Vanilla ice cream, Breyer’s Dark Chocolate Velvet extra creamy ice cream, popcorn, and a Quizno’s sub.

Sure doesn’t look like any kind of starvation diet to me? What do you think?

I certainly haven’t felt deprived in the slightest since I embarked on the Transformation Fascination journey. I have enjoyed every bit of this process along with the results.

Check out everything that I ate, the workouts that I’ve followed, and my thoughts throughout this journey by simply clicking on the following link to download the most recent and updated version of Transformation Fascination.

My fat loss results are definitely obvious, but the really awesome news is that I’ve been putting on a little bit of muscle at the same time. I’m noticing it in my chest, shoulders, arms, and legs. You really can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time and I will continue to be living proof of this throughout my transformation.

One valuable lesson that I have learned this past week is the power of experiencing quality sleep. We’ve heard it many times before, but very few of us do anything about it. After several days of quality sleep I was hit like a ton of bricks when I went one night with only five and a half hours sleep. I felt that for the next 36 to 48 hours. It impacted my workouts and my day.

After reading Brad Pilon’s Eat Stop Eat book and watching his free videos at his Inflammation Theory website, I’ve really made it a point to get a great night sleep in order to create an optimal environment within my body to burn fat and build muscle.

To help me achieve the best quality sleep possible, I began listening to my buddy Jim Katsoulis’ Sleep At Will program a few days ago. These audios are totally melting my stress away and sending me into a deep and restful sleep. I’m loving it.

All in all, I’m ready to take my transformation to the next level this week. On day 28 you’re going to see some awesome results from me. I guarantee it!

Thanks for sharing this journey with me. Please keep me posted on your own personal body transformation.

This fascination is now at an all time high, igniting a fire within me to take my own personal body and life transformation to the next level. In the process it is my hope that you will also become fascinated with the human body and experience a fire lit under your butt to embark on your own personal transformation.

The Transformation Fascination report is a growing documentation of my ongoing body transformation. Within this report you will see exactly what I eat and what workout I’m following. You will see daily pictures of my progress to see how my actions are impacting my physique. You will also hear my deepest thoughts about my progress, my body, and how it’s impacting my life.

My plan is to ease into this transformation. I’m not doing anything extreme. I’m not following any particular diet plan and I’m not counting calories. I will have a relaxed approach in the beginning and as I build momentum I will tighten things up.

I do have a bit of an agenda with this relaxed approach. I want to prove that the diet world is getting a bit out of control and over complicating things. The majority of the population does not need to obsess over advanced fat loss strategies. What they need to do is simplify things and master the fundamentals. Advanced techniques are important, but they have their time and place. As you follow along with my journey, you will see when those advanced techniques come into play and exactly what they are. I won’t be hiding anything from you.

You can download the first edition of this report by right clicking Transformation Fascination

I will release a new edition each week so you can follow along with my progress and what I’m doing to achieve great results.

The motto for Transformation Fascination is, “Eat Smart, Move Smart, Live Smart”

Lately I’ve been discussing the importance of focusing on eating less, especially if you are just starting out in your transformation. But if you want to achieve the best results possible, you need to eat smart.

For some people, moving more will help them build momentum and release that first bit of weight. But there comes a time when moving more can be counter productive. That’s why you need to move SMART!

Living smart is all about adopting a lifestyle that works with your goals rather than against them. Getting more sleep, reducing stress, and enjoying life to the fullest. That’s what Transformation Fascination is all about!

I’ve been documenting my journey in the Transformation Fascination report for the past 16 days. Here are my results from Day 1 to Day 14

In 14 days I’m getting a little more definition in my upper abs, my lower belly flab is beginning to melt away and flatten, my love handles are shrinking, there’s more definition between my shoulders and arms.

These results are far from extraordinary. Remember, I’ve just been easing into this transformation. I’m not going for immediate rapid and extreme results.

I achieved these results by eating, French toast, pizza, alcohol (rye and Pepsi Max), cheesy home fries, Cherry Cheese Cake, 1 light beer, ice cream, Melba Rounds, coffee with half hot chocolate, homemade peanut butter cookies, homemade vanilla pudding, honey roasted peanuts, dill pickle chips, Breyer’s Vanilla ice cream, Breyer’s double chocolate extra creamy ice cream, popcorn, Quizno’s sub, and homemade peanut butter bars.

If you’re wondering… no I am not doing cheat days. These treats have been spread out through the 14 day transformation. I’ve adopted Angie’s philosophies and lifestyle of consuming a small treat every day. It’s been working wonders for me.

This report also includes my reasons for documenting my journey, what I believe it takes to achieve an amazing body transformation, and my exact goals.

I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback after you read through the report. Based on your feedback I will add more info to the report, such as recipes and getting even deeper into my thoughts, motivation, and mindset.

I’m here to share as much about this experience as I possibly can and I am grateful that you are taking the time to share this journey with me.

I hope that this inspires you to take action and make today the day that you dedicate and commit yourself to sculpting the body that you deserve.

To achieving your limitless potential,

It’s a great way to get the heart pounding and muscles pumping! There is a problem with squat thrusts though… they can be too challenging for some individuals and there are some people who would prefer not to jump up and down for various reasons.

That’s why I was super excited to watch a video demonstration from former Biggest Loser trainer and creator of Fast Track Fat Loss, Kim Lyons, which showed four different variations of the squat thrust, from beginner all the way to very advanced.

This is an awesome exercise demonstration that you won’t want to miss…

So what did you think? If you’ve been avoiding the squat thrust did this encourage you to try the beginner variation? If you are an advanced trainee, did you get an idea to challenge yourself more with the squat thrust?

I hope that this helped add little variety to your training.

To achieving your limitless potential,

These two important keys to their fat loss success are…

a) They planned their meals and workouts in advance.
b) They tracked their progress.

Each successful individual followed these two important fat loss keys to varying degrees. Some of them love to go by the numbers, track their calories, track their weight and body fat percentage, and chart their progress on graphs. They find great joy in this and the visual displays of their progress or lack of progress was very motivating. Others prefer to simply keep a food journal, listing what they ate and the size of their portion, (small, medium, or large).

What I’ve noticed in conversations with these successful men and women, is that the more they recorded their meals in their journal, they began to become more aware of how they felt after eating a meal and they began to record these feeling in their journal as well.

The process of recording their meals brought about a new awareness of just how much they had been eating and how different meals impacted them both physically and emotionally. Basically, they became more “In-Tune” with their body.

As I mentioned in the first article in this nutrition series, I believe that the growing obesity rate is not a result of not knowing the greatest fat burning exercises of all time or the Top 5 Foods That Are Making You Fat… the growing obesity rate is a result of over-eating.

In my 12 years as a Certified Fitness Consultant I have come across countless people who told me that they were eating healthy and couldn’t understand why they weren’t losing weight. The very first assignment that I gave them was to record everything that went into their mouth for one week. At the end of the week I would compare the results that they experienced with what they consumed that week. This process is an incredible self education, but the key is to be 100% honest.

In some cases where the person did not lose weight we would discover that they didn’t record everything. They would neglect to record a few beverages here and there, a small bit of food here and there, a mini candy bar here and there, or they would simply forget to write something down if they waited until the end of the day. Those calories certainly added up and it became quite obvious why they weren’t losing weight. They were over-eating and they weren’t even aware of it.

I went through a similar experience with one of our Fat Loss Quickie members in the support community recently. This amazing individual had already embraced the process of documenting their transformation journey, but they couldn’t understand why they didn’t lose weight during the first two weeks while following one of our programs. I asked for an example of their typical meals and immediately we found that one of their meals added up to nearly 600 calories. That’s OK if you’re eating 2-3 meals per day for some individuals, but this friend of ours was eating 5-6 meals per day.

The more that we dug into it, the more that we found instances of meals containing too many calories. Even though most of the food was healthy, it was simply too much. We found simple ways to cut back and the next week I was ecstatic to hear that they released 5 pounds. Now that’s a bit too much in my opinion, but the important thing is that we now had feedback to go on… and that’s what planning and tracking is all about… it’s a feedback loop. It allows you to see the little changes that you can make, which translate into great body transformation results.

The biggest and most important take away from this is that you avoid beating yourself up in frustration for not making progress. If you are not seeing progress when you believe that you are eating well and doing everything correct, you may begin to think that there is something wrong with you. For example, you may begin to think that your thyroid or hormones are out of whack, when really, you were simply over-eating.

Don’t get me wrong… in some cases it’s more than over-eating. In some cases there are hormonal issues and other factors at play. I certainly do not want to down play those very serious issues that need to be addressed, but in the vast majority of the population it all boils down to underestimating how much you are consuming and overestimating how much you are burning.

It’s easy to get caught up in the overestimation of calorie burning when you have cardio equipment that displays inaccurate readings or ‘fitness experts’ claiming that you will burn a gazillion calories with their workout program. This frustrates me to no end… but we’ll save that for another day

The theme for this week has been about finding the joy in eating less and improving your “relationship” with food. I believe that planning and tracking the process of your body transformation is absolutely priceless, but I do not want you to turn this into a stressful situation. I want you to find the joy in documenting your journey.

The best way to turn this process into something that is enjoyable is to share your feelings and emotions in your journal as you document your workouts and meals. It’s great to put pen to paper and write out your feelings and emotions of experiencing an amazing workout or the sense of pride and satisfaction that comes from eating a very healthy meal that tastes great and doesn’t make you full. Sharing your feelings of pride from every small victory will turn this transformation or yours into something magical that you are excited to embark on.

I believe that planning your workouts and meals in advance is one of the greatest stress relievers that you could do for yourself. For your meals, you basically just have to do it once and then you can make slight modifications as you go, whenever you find a new meal that you would like to substitute into your master plan. When you have a meal plan you won’t find yourself stressing in the morning about what you should take out for dinner. You won’t get caught in a situation where you don’t know what to eat so you reach for unhealthy convenience food or fast food instead. You will know exactly what you are going to eat and you will know how your body will respond to those meals, because you have been documenting those feelings all along.

When you follow a professional designed workout program, such as those that Angie and I have created, you don’t have to guess what you are going to do at the gym today, it’s all laid out for you. All that you have to do is record the weight that you lifted and how you felt at the end of the workout. Tracking your progress and celebrating the small victories of performing one extra rep or lifting a little extra weight compared to the previous workout gives you a great sense of pride and achievement, which drives you to continue along this journey.

Embrace this process. Treat journalling as “Me Time”. A time that you can sit back in a quite place, relax, and reflect on your positive experiences from the day. Celebrate your victories and give yourself a good pat on the back. Don’t turn this into a chore… turn it into an opportunity. An opportunity to block out the noise of everyday life and focus in on YOU.

Have you been documenting your body transformation? I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Please take a moment to share them in the comment box below. I’d really appreciate it.

To achieving your limitless potential,

Scott Tousignant

PS I’ll be sharing my journal with you next week and giving you an intimate view into my life and transformation. I’m hoping that it will have a very positive impact on you and your body transformation results.

One of the results from transforming your body is an amazing boost in confidence. It’s what many of us look forward to when we set out on a fat loss journey. But what exactly does confidence mean to you and how will increasing your confidence impact your life? The answer to this question can have a profound impact on the success of your body transformation.

Confidence means something different to you and me, but no matter how you define confidence, it will always trigger a deep emotional response when you think about how it impacts your life.

Increasing your confidence may give you the courage to ask someone who you find extremely attractive on a date. Confidence may give you the courage to stand up to a bully. Confidence may give you the courage to ask for a promotion or submit your resume to your ideal job. Confidence may give you the courage to wear a swimsuit or revealing cloths. Confidence may give you the courage to keep the lights on while having sex with your significant other.

All of the above are very emotional experiences. When you tie in your fat loss goals with these kind of outcomes, it becomes way more powerful than simply stating, “I want to transform my body because I want to feel more confident.” What does confidence mean to you?

I’m about to get very personal with you here… I hope that you don’t mind

I’m very self-conscious when it comes to my body. I’d say that this is a result of the high standards that I set for myself as well as the strong values that I place on health and vitality. Because I’m very self-conscious, my confidence can take a big hit if I gain 5-10 pounds of fat. This can be both good and bad. It’s bad because, I have every reason to feel confident even when I’m 5-10 pounds heavier, but it’s good in the sense that it keeps me in check, because I want to avoid that feeling of lack in confidence, so I don’t allow myself to gain a significant amount of fat… Although it did happen once, when I was stressed, depressed, and over-worked back in 2005.

If I’m carrying around excess fat you will not see me ever take off my shirt even if I have the best body on the beach at the time. If I’m carrying around excess fat I don’t feel attractive at all and I shy away from intimacy. If I’m carrying around excess fat I don’t feel credible as a fitness professional. If I’m carrying around excess fat I become disgusted with myself when I look in the mirror. If I’m carrying excess fat I wear baggy and less flattering cloths. If I’m carrying around excess fat I shy away from pools.

When I’m carrying around excess fat I’m constantly reminded about it throughout the day. From the moment I strip down naked to get in the shower, to glancing at myself in the mirror, putting my cloths on and having them feel tighter around the waist as I do up the button, bending over to tie my shoes, getting dressed in the locker room before and after hockey, before and during intimate moments with my wife, while eating, mowing the lawn when I know I would love to do it with my shirt off during the hot weather, pool parties, beach outings, water park vacations… even booking the vacations makes me think about the extra pounds that I’m carrying around… and so many more things that it would simply take too long to list here in one post.

One thing that really “gets me”, when I’m carrying around an extra 5-10 pounds is that uncomfortable feeling of fullness, even when I haven’t pigged out. It’s that bloated kind of feeling and it makes me feel sluggish. I feel like I’m sucking my gut in all day, when I should be allowing my abdominal muscles relax.

All the above impacts my life more than you can imagine. It sucks. To me, an extra 5-10 pounds feels like 50 extra pounds. It bothers the heck out of me. Now flip this around…

When I’m living at my ideal measurements, I rip my shirt off at any opportunity I’m more intimate with my wife. I love to check myself out in the mirror. I embrace any chance to go to the beach or hang out around a pool. I feel super credible as a fitness professional. I respect myself. I feel a great sense of pride. I can approach people with ease. I walk tall and proud. I wear cloths that show off my physique and make me look incredible. I feel like I can achieve anything that I set my mind to. I want to try more things and go on more adventures. I want to experience the most out of life. I workout with greater passion and intensity. I become more fascinated with the potential of my physique. I have an incredible zest for life. When I’m at my ideal measurements I feel as though my body is a beautiful piece of art.

When I think of confidence, I think of all the above and more. When I think about how confidence impacts my life, the more that I realize… Confidence Equals FREEDOM!

When I’m carrying around excess fat and my confidence takes a hit, I know that I’m missing out on living life to the fullest because I hold back and pass up on opportunities that would be fun, simply because I don’t feel comfortable in my skin at the moment. When I’m at my ideal measurements and my confidence is soaring, I feel free to do whatever I please. I’m free to be ME and experience life to the fullest. That’s freedom.

So when I hang around people who don’t value their health, vitality, and physique as much as I do, and they tell me, “Come on Scott, live a little”, I think about how much my confidence will take a hit if I gain 5-10 pounds of fat and I think about how right now, at my ideal measurements, I’m “Living a LOT!” I’m living life to the fullest. That doesn’t mean that I won’t indulge in a treat. I love treating myself and I’m far from perfect when it comes to my diet. What it does mean is that I won’t go overboard and over indulge. You receive the most satisfaction from those first couple bites anyway

Am I hard on myself? Maybe… but here’s the kicker… I LOVE IT!

You see, I’m all about living to my potential… and I know that my potential is limitless. Right now I’m experiencing an incredible fascination with my physique that I’ve never experienced before. For the past week I’ve been telling people that I feel like I’m in my early 20’s again… back when I was making some serious body transformations.

I’ve tapped into a deep burning desire for self improvement and self growth. I’m driven to see where this transformation journey will take me and I’m eager to discover a level of energy that I currently am unaware that exists. I guess you could say that there’s a serious fire lit under my butt right now and I’m loving it!

This doesn’t mean that I’m spending more time working out or eating celery and carrots all day. What it means is that I have tapped into a new level of FOCUSED INTENSITY. I’m zeroed in on what I want and how I’m going to achieve it. I’ve raised the bar for myself and I’m up for the challenge. This in itself, has caused my confidence to soar!

So, there’s a taste of what confidence means to me. Now I would love to hear what confidence means to you. Please take a moment to open up and share your thoughts and feeling in the comment box below.

To achieving your limitless potential,
