I am really excited to share a really cool experience that recently happened to me, which demonstrates the critically important role that our mindset plays in achieving our goals.

It’s obvious to everyone in the gym that I spend just as much or more time strengthening my mental muscles as I do my arms, chest, and legs. I walk into the gym with intense focus, which increases with every second during my workout. Nothing can bring me out of this focus. I walk through the door with great intention and purpose.

Each rep of each set brings me one step closer to achieving my goals. I have a very clear image of the physique that I am about to sculpt, I know what needs to be done in order to achieve that image, and I’m willing to pay that price and put in the hard work to make that vision become a reality for me.

How am I able to create such a clear image in my mind of what I envision my body to look like? Simple… I’ve been creating vision boards for years, which include cut outs of physiques that I desire to transform my body into. You may have seen some of my previous videos dating all the way back to 2006 when I first began to use vision boards. Actually I prefer not to use a vision board… I actually bombard my entire life with images of the goals that I want to achieve. I have them posted on my desk, in my car, on my fridge, on my alarm clock, on my wall next to my bed, and around my bathroom mirror.

How My Mind Helped Me Achieve a Recent Goal

A little less than a year ago I posted pictures of physiques that I aspired to become more like, along with some life goals that I wanted to achieve this year. One of those goals was to purchase a pop-up camper. Our family loves camping and the great outdoors. We had been borrowing a relatives pop-up camper for the past 7 years and we began thinking about how great it would be to own a pop-up camper of our very own.

I did a Google search for images of pop-up campers and printed up the first one that I came across. I clipped it out and put it on my desk along with the pictures of the other goals that I wished to achieve this year. I had no idea what brand, size, or style of pop-up camper that I wanted to have, I just knew that I wanted one.

A couple months later Angie decided to take over my home office and I began working more often at a local Internet Cafe to get out of the house. During this process Angie took down the pictures of my goals and put them away in a desk drawer. Those images were still playing in my head, but I wasn’t looking at them any longer.

This week Angie and I invested in a pop-up camper of our very own. As we were finalizing the deal in the sales managers office I noticed that he had a vision board up in his office. That sparked a great conversation and then I realized, “Oh my gosh… I had cut out a picture of a pop-up camper and here we were buying one.”

Upon returning home I immediately dug through my drawers to find the picture of the pop-up camper. To my amazement (Not really, because I know that this mindset stuff really works), the picture of the pop-up camper was the exact make and model that we ended up purchasing.

WOW!!!

Out of all the makes and models out there that we could have chosen, we picked the one that I posted up on my desk nearly a year ago and had actually forgotten about (but not really). Those few months that I had the picture up on my desk had ingrained that image in my mind. I still knew that we wanted a pop-up camper even though the image wasn’t up on my desk and I wasn’t just hoping or wishing for it. I was taking the necessary actions to make that goal a reality for us.

The Lesson

Have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and remind yourself of that vision as often as you possibly can and do what it takes to make your goal a reality. I attached some very powerful emotions to this goal as well. We love camping and I kept playing our wonderful experiences over and over in my mind and pictured them in our very own pop-up camper.

Without having that vision or target, my mind would not have had any direction to aim for.

My first influence on the power of the mind came from Arnold Schwarzenegger and his book “Education of a Bodybuilder“. I recently came across a video of Arnold where he speaks about the mind being more important than the body when it comes to transforming your body…

Arnold Schwarzenegger On The Power Of The Mind

Arnold talks about visualization as “The mind creating the body.” He states the important role that the body and training plays, but he points out how it’s the mind that helps you push out those few extra reps and motivates you to do whatever it takes in order to become the best that you can be.

I love how Arnold refers to mindset as “Developing the hunger” by setting goals, seeing that goal become a reality through visualization, and actually believing that you can achieve the outcome that you desire.

It was great to hear Arnold touch on the topic of failure and if we want to succeed we need to, “Be willing to fail.” Are you willing to set a goal, fully understanding that you will have some failures during your journey of achieving that goal? Failure is an important part of your success and should be embraced rather than feared.

Arnold mentioned that “Every day is a learning experience.” I believe that’s a great way to approach life. What have you learned about yourself today? What have you learned that can help you become the best that you can be? What have you learned that can help others become the best that they can be? What have you learned about your mindset that has influenced your actions?

I totally agree with Arnold. The mind is more important than the body. That’s why our Fat Loss Quickie home workout and nutrition program also includes two motivational audios each week and eleven motivational films to help you harness the power of your mind, stick with the program and make your goals become a reality.

No workout or diet program is complete without a mindset component. Especially if you desire life long success.

What are you doing to empower your mind today?

To achieving your limitless potential,

This is a great question and great advice to follow through with if you want to keep your motivation high and follow through with achieving the body and health that you deserve. But, is finding your powerful reason why you MUST achieve your fat loss goal enough to help you push through the challenges and temptations that you face along the way?

I don’t think it is. A part of why I don’t think it’s enough is because you simply do not take it seriously. Like goal setting, you give it a half-assed effort. You don’t invest enough emotion into it.

The biggest reason why I don’t think that having a ‘powerful why’ is enough, is that you don’t visualize it actually happening and you don’t replay that vision in your head nearly as often as you should.

If you’re a parent I’m sure that you share a common ‘powerful why’ as Angie and I. We want to be the best parents that we can be. We want to have the energy to keep up with them and participate in fun activities with them. We want to be around to see our kids grow up. We want to see them get married. We want to be around to see their children.

Here’s a video that Angie and I created a little while ago that reveals our powerful reasons why and how we define fitness success…

Let’s say that you tell me one of your powerful reasons why you MUST achieve a lean and healthy body is because you want to be around to walk your daughter down the aisle at her wedding.

That’s a very powerful reason why you should do everything that you possibly can to achieve your fat loss goals. But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that exact statement and the very next day I see that person scarfing back a bunch of greasy fast food burgers and trans fat soaked fries, while gulping down a super-sized soft drink.

What does that say about how much you really want to be around to walk your daughter down the aisle at her wedding?

In that moment, the burger and fries are more important than your daughter. How can it be that satisfying your taste buds temporarily is of greater value than one of the greatest moments that any parent can experience?

You see… right there is where simply stating your powerful why is not enough.

You need to play out that vision and start off with the negative. If you continue to place more value on overindulging in unhealthy food choices and less value on the things that really matter most in life and as a result you decease prematurely, what would your daughter’s wedding be like?

Picture the tears on her face wishing that you were there to walk her down the aisle. Picture the conversations around the tables at the reception and how many people sympathetically state, “It sure would have been nice if the bride’s parent was still alive to see this.”

The choices that you make not only effect your life… they effect the lives of those whom you love and many other people around you.

Now let’s turn this into something positive. You have set your goals. You have an action plan to follow. You’re committed to your home workouts. You’re committed to a healthy nutrition plan. You’ve aligned yourself with a great support group. You’ve committed to building an Unstoppable Mindset. And you’ve written out your powerful reasons why you are willing to do whatever it takes to follow through and achieve the body and life that you deserve.

Let’s take the next step and visualize the outcome and how these actions will impact your daughter’s wedding day…

Picture yourself dressed to the nines looking the best that you’ve ever looked in your life. Picture the look on your daughters face as she looks into your eyes with great admiration and respect. Picture her telling you how grateful she is that you were so actively involved in her life. Picture the wedding speeches and the wonderful stories about fun active vacations that you’ve had together and how she looks up to you as a role model. Picture the wedding guests commenting about how great your daughter looks and great you look. You’re a beautiful family and your daughter’s wedding album is going to be filled with gorgeous pictures. Picture yourself reflecting on this very moment and all those times when you were tempted by unhealthy foods and rather than give into those temptations you chose to place a much greater value on this cherished memory that you will have with your daughter. Picture just how proud you are of yourself for making the choice to become the best you that you can be.

Do you see how great the impact that this practice of visualizing your powerful why in action can have?

It’s not enough to simply state it. You must experience it before it actually happens. As I first learned from my friend Tom Venuto, “You live the outcome in advance.” I love that!

Go through that vision frequently. Each time that you visualize the outcome of achieving your goal I want you to add more emotion, more color, more clarity.

This is meant to be a fun practice. You want to achieve your fat loss goals for a reason. You’re going to experience a great deal of happiness and sense of accomplishment. Focus on that! Focus on the joy of this journey and how it will impact the people whom you love the most. You don’t just deserve a lean and healthy body. The people that you love deserve to have you living in a lean and healthy body too.

Next time that you are about to overindulge at an unplanned time, quickly replay that powerful why vision in your head. Overindulging is not worth it when you are sacrificing so much. Being strong of mind is a skill that will pay huge dividends and reward you for a lifetime.

To achieving your limitless potential,

Instead of saying, “It’s my goal to fit into a size 6 pair of jeans and be able to get as much done in a 7 hour workday as I do in my current 8 hour workday so I can spend more time with my family and enjoy life to the fullest”, I want you to change the word ‘goal’ to ‘mission’.

“It’s my mission to…”

Do you see how changing that one word dramatically impacts that sentence? The word mission packs a powerful punch! Subconsciously when you say the word ‘mission’ it becomes something that ‘must achieved‘.

I have a powerful motivational quickie audio for you below. It’s an interview that I did with Adam Waters where we cover this very topic. Feel free to download it, pop it into your mp3 player, and listen to it while you do some quickie cardio.

But first I want to introduce you to Adam Waters. He’s just a regular guy who was determined to lose a bunch of weight, but he needed to be held accountable to seeing that goal through to the very end. So instead of calling it a goal, he set out on a mission to record a video and take a picture of himself every day.

Adam harnessed the power of social media to hold himself accountable to achieving his mission. The video that I’m sharing with you below shows the transformation that Adam went through. Notice that over 4 million people have viewed that video!

By harnessing the power of social media and documenting his journey on his blog and on YouTube, Adam caught the attention of the media and has made a great name for himself. His been on television, in magazines, in the newspaper and all over the web.

What could you do with that type of recognition?

Set a mission for yourself and share your journey with the world. Not only is it a great way to hold yourself accountable, but it sure could lead to some great opportunities. Of course I would love to see you document your journey on the Fat Loss Quickie program

Check out what my friend Nicole Dean has done while documenting her journey on the Fat Loss Quickie Program. She even came up with a fun name and made a challenge out of it: Computer Butt Challenge

Nicole got her fans and followers involved in her journey and the accountability has been tremendous. Plus it has made her home office fitness journey much more enjoyable.

Ok, now it’s time for your daily task. I want you to take a look at the goal that you set for yourself earlier on in this challenge and change the word ‘goal’ to ‘mission’. I want you to read that ‘mission’ out loud to yourself and tell me how different it feels when you say it.

Download the mp3 below and prepare to be inspired.

You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,

<itunes:summary>During the 30 Day Home Office Fitness Challenge I have recommended that you set fitness, business, and life goals and make those goals public to hold yourself accountable to achieving them. Today we're going to take things to a new level by simply changing one word.

Instead of saying, "It's my goal to fit into a size 6 pair of jeans and be able to get as much done in a 7 hour workday as I do in my current 8 hour workday so I can spend more time with my family and enjoy life to the fullest", I want you to change the word 'goal' to 'mission'.

"It's my mission to..."

Do you see how changing that one word dramatically impacts that sentence? The word mission packs a powerful punch! Subconsciously when you say the word 'mission' it becomes something that 'must achieved'.

I have a powerful motivational quickie audio for you below. It's an interview that I did with Adam Waters where we cover this very topic. Feel free to download it, pop it into your mp3 player, and listen to it while you do some quickie cardio.

But first I want to introduce you to Adam Waters. He's just a regular guy who was determined to lose a bunch of weight, but he needed to be held accountable to seeing that goal through to the very end. Adam harnessed the power of social media to hold himself accountable to achieving his mission. The video that I'm sharing with you below shows the transformation that Adam went through. Notice that over 4 million people have viewed that video!

This is a ‘leaked’ video from his upcoming program, “Your Attitude Sucks”… I love that title The video is a bit long (40 minutes) but it is well worth it. I usually click off a page when I see a video that long, but Frank and Scott Sandland had my full attention for the complete 40 minutes.

How To Explode Your Productivity

By the way, Frank also includes home office fitness into his workday to boost his productivity, energy, and focus.

Frank is one of the most down to Earth guys that I know and has an incredible grasp on what’s really important in life. As you’ll hear in the video above, what matters most to Frank is FREEDOM! Not just financial freedom, but the freedom to do what he wants in life. If you don’t have your health you’ll never truly be free.

I’ll never forget the first presentation that I watched Frank give at an Internet Marketing conference. His story of perseverance inspired me and he’s been a role model of mine ever since.

A really key point to take from this video is, “What motivates others may not motivate you”. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’. Just become the best YOU that you can be and follow your passions and go after the goals that have greater meaning to you and fall in line with your life’s purpose.

Frank and Scott get into a great discussion a the beginning of the video about purchasing an information product, whether it be a diet book or business building book, and not following through with the information before moving onto the next program or book. Can you relate to that?

I encourage you to take the time to watch the entire video. There’s great conversations about FEAR, success, and much more.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about the video and any tips that really hit home with you. Share your comments in the box below and let us know what you think.

You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,
