Jan is known as the “Queen of Kaos” (I love that name) and she offers some awesome tips and advice for work-at-home-moms and dads looking to increase their productivity and improve their time management.

Jan has put together a great post for you today that I am sure you will enjoy. After all, one of the main benefits and purposes of quick home office workouts is to boost your productivity and improve your time management. I’ll be sharing a lot more advice with you about how you can get more done in less time so you can do the things that you enjoy most in life. Now onto Jan’s post…

Making Time For Exercise For Homepreneurs

Making time for exercise when you work at home can seem like a real challenge, but the biggest challenge starts in your mind.

It’s so easy to bump yourself to the back of the list and next thing you know, whoops!, the day is gone.

WHAT TO DO?

That part is easy.

Make it what I like to call a non negotiable.

A non negotiable is just what it sounds like, something solid, that leaves no wiggle room for negotiation.

You won’t be telling yourself I’ll do it tomorrow… today doesn’t count… I can skip this time (and the next time and the next) or anything like that.

Because it simply will not be an option for you anymore.

It won’t even be on your radar.

HOW TO GET THERE?

In the end, it is always a matter of simply deciding to make putting aside the time you need for exercising a non negotiable, but you may need to have a look at WHY you want to exercise every day to get there.

Here are a few thoughts to get you started. Dig deeper to find some more, or to find your ‘one thing’ that will keep you going should you be tempted to ‘open negotiations’.

If…

You are disappointed every time you look in the mirror, knowing that if you just got on track with your exercises that you would look great.

You are uncomfortable in your clothes but refuse to go a size bigger – there’s a non negotiable, right there.

You feel unhealthy, winded after a short excursion. You want freedom to breathe again, to feel good – and then to feel great!

You’ve lost your glow and you want it back.

You want to live a long, full life in health, not in sickness.

You want to feel strong and alive, rather than weak and decaying with every year.

You realize that you need to make yourself and your health a priority in your life. You realize that it’s up to you, and no one else. You’re in charge.

WHAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO

It all comes down to two words.

Non-negotiable.

If you can remember those words, any time you are tempted to let something else elbow out your exercise time you will remember that it’s not an option, because you’ve made an agreement with yourself. Period.

You will find yourself saying “Let’s get to it now“, instead of “No, I can do it another time“… a time which never comes.

Next thing you know, you will find that you are making time to exercise during your work at home day.

Day after day.

WANNA KNOW A SECRET?

Non negotiables work in every area of time management and productivity. If you want to do something, first you need to identify why, decide what to do, and then you need to make it a non negotiable and start saying yes.

If you’d like to learn about more secrets to work at home productivity and achievement, you can get them with your free subscription to WAHM in Focus, your weekly source for work at home solutions or visit theQueen Of Kaos Blog.

So, how did you enjoy the guest post from Jan Ferrante? Let us know your thoughts and opinions. I for one absolutely love the idea of making fitness a non-negotiable. It’s a great way to prove to yourself that fitness and health is a priority in your life. It is a top priority for you right? Of course it is, because you realize how much it will increase your productivity and improve your business and quality of life.

You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,

You can also take short 1-minute breaks to stretch, use the foam roller, or get your blood pumping with a quick burst exercise movement.

I recommend that you carry this strategy on throughout your workday… meaning, break your daily tasks into small manageable chunks. Here’s what I mean…

Improve Your Time Management Skills

My friend and Fat Loss Quickie member Ann Rusnak 1st brought it to my attention that we have ninety-six 15-minute chunks in our day to work with. I really like the idea of getting super focused on a task for 15 minutes and then either moving on or using the next 15 minutes to complete the second portion of a task.

Lynn Terry of Clicknewz suggests to schedule your action tasks such as writing a blog post or working on your product, during the earlier hours of your day when you are fresh and focused. Then you can move onto the more passive tasks such as reading another experts blog post or reports.

Lately I’ve been using a really cool time management software when I’m working on my PC called The DOT (Do One Thing). It’s FREE to download and simple to use. You just add the tasks that you want to complete throughout the day into the program and give them an allotted time slot to perform that task.

To download your copy of The DOT, simply right click the following link and select “save as” The DOT Software
Also… The DOT Users Guide

Unfortunately it’s not available for Mac users and I spend most of my time on my Mac, but when I’m on my PC I definitely use it to help me manage my time.

Do you have any tips or strategies to manage your time and break it down into chunks? Do you have a timer at your desk to alert you to move onto another task? I’d love to hear from you. Don’t be shy

You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,

Scott Tousignant

PS One of the amazing benefits of quick home office workouts is that it improves your time management, mental performance, and quality of work. If you’ve been trying to make improvements in any of these areas there is no better time to start incorporating home office fitness into your day than NOW!
